DC TV Universe: How little of a crap I give it

To get this out of the way I've already said my peace on how little of an interest I have in the MCU and DC Cinematic Universe so I'm moving on from that. What I am going to talk about however is how disinterested I am with the DC Television Universe.

The DCTVU started off hot. Especially with Arrow, first two seasons anyway, and Flash and it seems to be what I felt how the DC Cinematic Universe should have been. Least IMHO. The Arrowverse managed to establish its own universe and mythology and at the time it seem to have some form of a direction. Then the idiocy of WB rears its ugly head. First it started with systematically killing off Deadshot then soon almost anyone who is involved with the Suicide Squad just for the sake of  not having two versions of the same characters. I guess WB must think their fans are too stupid that they couldn't tell the difference between the tv and film versions. And because of this there is a strong possibility that we might not see TV Barry because WB, in their infinite wisdom feel that having two Barry's is illogical. So that would mean all that build up and making the fans feel emotionally invested in the character is flushed down the toilet because WB is too petty to not just separate the tv and film versions of the respective characters. Which is a shame. I wouldn't mind a TV version of Superman teaming up with Supergirl and hang out afterwards. Or a few heartwarming scenes involving Clark helping Kara through her trauma of the Red K incident. Hell I wouldn't even mind Kara interacting with Lois. But that cant happen.

So why should I even care about the characters if they are just going to get killed or disappear because we might be seeing a movie version of the same character soon? I guess this also means no Martian Manhunter in Justice League?

You'd think with Marvel trying to walk on eggshells in establishing their universe without X-Men related characters, due to Fox owning them, that DC would be taking advantage of this opportunity right? To quote someone

I like the idea of separate universes. I think a big part of the reason Daredevil and Jessica Jones are as good as they are is because of how far away from the rest of the Universe they are.

If anything, DC needs to truly separate the universes. Get rid of this "no doubles rule" and give the TV Show's the creative control they've earned. They sure like using the TV Shows to advertise the movies, you'd think they'd want those shows to be as high quality as possible.

Don't ruin a good thing WB! Otherwise you'd just be alienating your fanbase even further.

How Superman V Batman and Civil War Are The Same Movie And How Stupid Fan Wars Are

Gonna talk about something that, to be honest, wont exactly be a popular opinion. Of course since we are talking about superhero movies what exactly is a popular opinion? No matter what a person says they're either damned if they do or damned if they don't.

Looking at both of the trailers involving Civil War and Dawn of Justice I know both DC and Marvel Fantatics have already chosen their side in the fan war. As far as I'm concerned you want to know why the fan war involving DC vs Marvel is stupid? Because the companies in general doesn't give a shit about which side the fans choose as long as they make money off of them. On one side you have Marvel slandering DC and the way they do things while DC does the same to Marvel. Then both fans get all butt hurt over the comments and go "How dare they say that?!" Sometimes controversy sells dumbshits! The actors involved in the Marvel/DC films don't give a shit about some lame fan war, they're too busy signing their checks. But they'd gladly go out of their way to say whatever that can promote the film they're involved in. The fact that the fans buy into whatever the actors say is the equivalent of a fish taking the bait while Marvel/DC reels it in.

And lets talk about the general audience. As far as the general audience whom aren't comic fans go they just see the films to find some form of entertainment. Either for themselves or for their kids whom like to see their favorite heroes on the big screen. Here is how little they care about the fan wars relating to DC/Marvel

There is a difference being supporting a movie but there is also a difference between being too caught up on the fan war that you're loosing sight on the fact that both companies are profiting off on it.

Then you have the upcoming movies. Dawn of Justice and Civil War. With both DC and Marvel Fanatics comparing both films, despite one glaring fact. They're the same movie! Not just in plot setting but because of the fact that neither movies brought anything new to the table. The only times the MCU was different because of Winter Soldier. Especially when you compare Winter Soldier to the other Phase 2 films. The DC Movie Universe haven't done much for me either. The only time I've ever gotten a "huh" out of DC is because of their live action tv shows and even with them they're getting stale.

As divisive as it has gotten I'd at least give Star Wars credit in giving me a "where will they go next?" kind of reaction. Cause anything can happen as far as Episode VIII go.

But here's a chance to see if BOTH movies can prove me wrong and not only be a good movie but do something new.

Invincible: How The Earth and Mark's Reputation is FUBAR Regardless What Happens To Robot

FUBAR: Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition

To recap what has been going on in Invincible as of late. Robot has not only betrayed his friends but has also massacred just about every superhero within the superhero community. Those whom have managed to live are either trying to fight back against Robot or are joining Robot because he's the biggest villain sue since The Light

http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/The_Light

And while the heroes of Young Justice's only crime is being an idiot the heroes of Invincible's only crime is being an uncaring jerkface. I mean let Robot rule over the earth, regardless of the fact that he could be putting innocent lives at risk?

And in result this puts Invincible in an arc that is so pointlessly long that it makes Clark's Superman Arc in Smallville less tedious. Now eventually Robot will be stopped but in the hands of a....smart writer lets look at what the repercussions.

Earth Damaged Beyond Repair

I'm not just talking about collateral damage either. No I'm talking about on a social change. Cause there will be fanatics that will go after the ones who stop Robot and thus resulting in another war that the heroes will have to clean up. Then you have some people that didn't mind Robot's reign and will resist the heroes reverting to the status quo of things.

The fact that the heroes hardly did anything against Robot at all what civilian could count on them should another crisis happen?

Everybody Hates Mark

Anyone with half a brain wouldn't easily forgive him Would you? He not only surrenders but he also ditches the planet. One of the heroes even called him out and labels him a coward but Mark couldn't care less. Even if he eventually grows a pair and fights Robot its going to take years for him to get himself back in the good graces with the superhero community. Let alone the civilians should they find out that Mark ditched them.

Oh and Mark single-highhandedly destroyed his own family in the process. Congratulations you selfish wanker.

The DC and the MCU have both gotten their share of flack. I've even went as far as to call MOS average. Say what you will about MOS but at least Superman actually tried to stop Zod

And while I've often accused the MCU of not taking things seriously at least The Avengers would try to stop Ultron from killing countless of people. As dysfunctional as they are. Given the crap that he has gone through Cap could have easily turn his back on the people. Iron Man too. But they still save lives.

Hell even Jackverine looked more heroic than Mark in Days of Future Past. Let that sink in.

As Invincible grows its becoming the anti-game of thrones. In Game of Thrones there are at least some characters I still root for regardless of how gloom that universe is. In Invincible....Cant really make that claim. Although if there is anything I'd give Game of Thrones credit in its that at least the villains would get what is coming to them eventually.

Story Cliches I Consider Deader Than Disco And Will Never Use

Fiction has been as old as when mankind first crafted the concept of storytelling. Because of that there have been some recognizable storytelling tropes. Right now I'm going to discuss a few storytelling cliches that I felt is not only outdated but will never use in my works. So lets get to it!

1. Damsel In Distress

This goes without saying. You'd think we should be done with this but this trope is still being used. Now I don't mind a protagonist being vulnerable but I despise this being use just for the sake of the love interest to look strong while the significant other looks weak and helpless. There is a difference between making a character vulnerable and making a character a complete wimp.

2. Pointless Fanservice

I like my T & A and not ashamed of it. But there is always a time and a place for such things. Like a sex montage when off the clock.

3. Karma Houdini's

It may not be tomorrow and it may not be today but my villain characters usually gets whats coming to them. And, depending on the villain, that payback will be cathartic.

4. Idiot Sidekicks

Jar Jar Binks should be a reminder why this has to go.

5. Jerkass Friends

Unless the person has some redeemable values I'd just be questioning why the sane ones put up with the person TBH.

6. Joke Villains

Now it can be used right. The Monarch from Venture Brothers and even Harmony for example. But if that is all the character is then the villain needs to find a new hobby.

Summer Plans

As Xanatos would say: "Always plan ahead" Or come up with multiple plans or both. Anyways.

Going to start things off by giving an update on my creative process. Currently I'm working on a new series that takes place in the City of Adventures Universe. Its called Chronicles of A Mad Scientist; going by the title its not exactly a hero focused series.

Currently some outside distractions have been really intense as of late, nothing bad just I might not be able to be as active as I was. This is one of the reasons why I've decided to retire from RPG's. That doesn't mean you've seen the last of me though.

I'm looking at doing a project in the summer. Not sure what it is yet but its gonna be a big one.

Good news concerning one of my projects. I pitched Shift towards a member of the MZPTV Forums and from the sounds of things I have gained a fan. I already provided her the first issue so fingers crossed.
